The Cross: The Energy of Leaven desires awareness as a determination to share the soul's vision and to make a permanent impact on history. The Space for Impact allows for its conscious existence as achievement through the effective dramatization of human character on some level of everyday understanding. The confirming Knowledge of Rapport reveals itself as an absolute and usually unsuspected mastery over the forces and exigencies of life and nature. The defining of Action as Sustainment brings stabilization through a complete and effective alignment of self with whatever greater possibilities may remain unrealized in a given milieu.

Objectifying through Commemoration establishes as effective self-dramatization in some vital service to human affairs. Synchronizing of Tastefulness aligns as high accomplishment through a consistent representation of the self's subtleties in the best possible light. Ultimately, the Potentialization of Constancy is the continual reassurance by which the will of the individual coaxes the depths of one's soul into one's experience.

RESTRAINT
When positive, the degree is a courageous and complete disregard of limitation by the rejection of its terms at any cost, and when negative, self-betrayal for momentary ease.
This is a symbol of the withdrawal from reality in one aspect as a means for regrasping it in another, here dramatized by an acceptance of regimentation as a species of insulation against life's demand for some more dynamic manifestation of the self. Implicit in the static symbolism is the necessity for using any fellowship in lesser values as a self-strengthening in a definite and renewed struggle towards the greater. An enforced conservation of energies need not encourage a surrender of basic ideals.

CONSERVATION
When positive, the degree is an individual genius for fitting all needs and ideals into the universal patterns, and when negative, a total lack of initiative.
This is a symbol of the eternal stability of the world at large, and of each person's ability to preserve its form and function in full accordance with his own convenience. Implicit in the static symbolism is the complete dependability of man-made structures at their best, and the joy of nature in making them an enduring part of herself in every respect. What is ephemeral in any possible phase of the real is merely that which serves no purpose in its transient state of existence.
Give us this day our daily bread, was a prayer offered by the Master. It was also instructional to us as to what we can expect to receive each day for our fulfillment and sustenance.
If we take the symbolism of bread making and apply it to the daily signatures of the Hourglass Model where it is written in the Emerald Tablet by Hermes Trismegistus to be the key of life, i.e. that Heaven touches Earth and Earth touches Heaven that the purpose of One be accomplished, we discover, likewise, that our daily Activities are in fact those components of this daily Energy symbol. These signatures are symbolized in the Star and Cross models in my book, On the Shoulders of Giants.
Let us begin with the end in mind before gathering and mixing and kneading our ingredients for our daily bread. That is, while laboring in the process of bread-making or participating in our daily activities, we will hold the creative Substance or the bread dough in our minds. In our symbolism of bread, this becomes the Substance of Heaven's symbolism to us this day.
Once our earthly activities have become this heavenly substance, then they are formed for baking, as it were, into a truly satisfying loaf of bread--shaped into an art-form of our choosing or self-consummation. Here, in its fullness we may partake of and receive the answer to our prayer. Life becomes a true and self-fulfilling expression of LOVE, one day at a time. And the series of daily expressions of our self-love and love for others begins spiraling upward.
Where Heaven Touches Earth and Earth Touches Heaven. Here is the greatest possible focus point for your day. Live this day to its fullest! Allow the Two Become One! Be the key to your own reality.
